RÜFÜS have supported LCD SoundSystem and Holy Ghost! and made appearances at SXSW, Wonderland Festival and Reading and Leeds festival, comfortably situating themselves at the forefront of Australia’s emerging EDM scene. The album created a perfect balance of light and dark whilst encompassing all their musical influences and featured the popular singles: “Tonight”, “Desert Night” and “Take Me”. As RÜFÜS ventured outside of Australia, playing shows across Europe with their European influenced sound, the band soon became known for their electric performances as the commanded the attention of the audience with their euphoric and upbeat sounds.Īfter writing solidly for nine months, in 2013 RÜFÜS released their highly anticipated debut album “Atlas” which catapulted into the Australian album charts debuting at number one and achieving gold status. Using Soundcloud as a platform to release new material saw the band boost both interest and popularity as their reach extended worldwide with their energetic and ambient electronic sound. As advocates for the DIY approach, the band tend kept all productions low key and had all artwork designed by George’s brother allowing the band to have full control over the all aspects of their art. The following year the band released the “Blue” EP with the single “This Summer”. The result of these recordings would become their debut self-titled EP which they released in 2011 featuring the first single “We Left” on their own label Monkeleon. Once the material had been produced, James Hunt (drums) from a local indie band completed the line-up and the vision for RÜFÜS was realised. Bonding through their mutual love of artists such as: Booka Shade, Trentemoller and Royksopp, they experimented with a more electronic sound and recorded the outcome in their bedrooms. Until then, you can continue to see them on tour where dates haven’t yet sold out. The trio has yet to acknowledge these rumors, but they’ll surely clear up any misunderstandings at that time. They’ll make another album and tour again in a couple years. It’s the end of a chapter of them as a unit being based out of LA. Right before that he was talking about him moving to San Diego and Jon and James moving to Miami. Lindqvist is apparently moving to San Diego with his wife and child, who just turned 3 a few months ago, and Jon and James are moving to Miami.
